I stopped by for breakfast around 10 am and there were plenty of choices left. I wanted to get a little sample of a few things in the case for my wife and I to share on a rainy morning. You definitely have to try the breakfast casserole. It's served muffin style and has egg, bacon, sausage (ham, too, I think) and cheese on top. This was the best thing we got and I could eat a few more! We also picked up a cinnamon roll and a bacon wrap, which is a slice of bacon wrapped around a sort of breadstick. These were both decent, although I agree with previous reviews that it would be better served warm, but I didn't ask them to warm it, so maybe they do. I picked up a large coffee, lighthouse blend, which was good. These, plus a large juice, were around $11 so all around good pricing. The staff were friendly and explained everything they had. The lady that helped me even carried the stuff to the car for me because it was raining and I had my baby. I would recommend this place and come back!

Delicious cinnamon rolls and best pecan waffle I've ever had. Friendly and welcoming place. Try it!

Enjoyed this bakery - we went a bit later in the day (about 3pm) and they were running out of baked goods. They must make just what they need for the day and shut down when they run out. We shared a turnover, which was excellent, and my wife got an iced vanilla latte, which she said was very good as well. Very friendly, and a nice place to stop for a drink and a dessert.

Stopped in mid-afternoon to check it out because it came highly recommended. Picked up some apple and cherry turnovers that were delicious. Not much else left to choose from. Did have a sandwich menu, just didn't plan ahead to stay for lunch. Friendly staff, will go back if time before heading home.

I drove down to DI for the afternoon and was looking for something to eat that wasn't a sit down meal or gas station food. I saw the "Bakery open" sign on the main road around 1:30 and decided to check it out (I didn't know this place existed. Thank goodness for the sign or I would have missed it) I got the chicken salad croissant with potato salad. It was very good. The employees were friendly and it was a neat building. Next time I'm on the island I'll make sure to stop in.

Awesome bakery. Just be sure to be patient. Closed on Monday and Tuesday's and only serve omelets on Sundays. But their cinnamon rolls and pigs in a blanket biscuits are wonderful. Stock up and try to have them more than one day if you can keep them from being eaten.

Long wait at the counter to place my order (about 25 minutes of standing in line) but the food was worth it. Highly recommend the cinnamon rolls. I also had a bran muffin, which was light and delicious, and a turkey sandwich. The turkey sandwich was fresh and on homemade bread. The dining area is full of individual kitchen dining tables and chairs sets, giving the whole place a cute and quirky feel. I'm hoping to come back one more time while we're here. Great place!

Great cream cheese pastries and bacon wraps. Pecan cinnamon rolls are huge and delicious. Wait times are long and on our second trip the lady forgot we were waiting on an order and 5 minutes turned into 45. Four stars on food, 2 stars on service.

This bakery is setup in an antique looking house with an interesting and random collection of chairs and tables with local artwork on the walls. Sunday is a very popular day and this is about the only bakery game on Dauphin Island so it attracts quite a line of folks. They have a special crab omelet that is only offered on Sundays but I found it rather light on the crab for the price and while the toast it was served with was nice I really would've liked some jelly and butter (if you decide to split an omelet with somebody they want to charge you additional money for the extra plate). They also have a selection of sandwiches to choose from and a small baked goods display. I tried the oatmeal cookie and it didn't do much for me so I wouldn't get one of those again. This is also about the only place I've ever been where they limit you to one refill on your iced teas but there was such a line I don't know how you would even accomplish getting the one refill. I wouldn't stop in here for Sunday morning prime time ever again but might do a sandwich (however the iced tea refill policy would seriously give me pause as I drink a lot of tea with my meals). The ordering process of standing in line could also be improved if they had handheld menus or added more large chalkboard menus folks could look at but as it currently works you can't really see the single chalkboard menu until you are right at the front of the line and this causes delays in ordering. Lots of people here just seem interested in getting to-go orders so they could also add table service for those that want to dine in and keep the counter ordering for the hordes of to-go customers.

Fine but nothing special. Go there early if interested, most everything was gone by around 11.

Looking at other reviews, I made the right choice visiting this little bakery early on a Wednesday morning. I didn't have to wait in line, and I had the front porch to myself. I tried a cinnamon roll, pig in a blanket, a breakfast casserole muffin, and a cream cheese danish to take back to my motel for later. While the cinnamon roll was good, I didn't think it was worth all the hype. The cream cheese danish and the breakfast casserole, however, were definitely worth writing home. You can tell the danish are made fresh everyday, and the breakfast casserole is great for a quick, well-rounded breakfast before heading to the beach. Service was friendly. The house coffee perfectly complimented the pastries. I loved the atmosphere on the front porch in the early morning, with the little water fountain gurgling in the corner. The guest book with the coffee condiments is such a sweet touch! Dauphin Island is such a charming destination, and the Lighthouse Bakery greatly adds to its appeal. Will definitely return!

The baked goods were great, but they can never keep up with the crowd as the lines can be very long at times, and they run out of things quick. This seems to be an ongoing problem.

I love this bakery and make at least one stop every time I vacation on the island ... usually after a long run so I feel justified ingesting all that deliciousness!! The cinnamon rolls are very cinnamony and totally share-able. The croissants are also giant-sized. If you're looking for something a little less sweet and/or buttery, there is generally at least one kind of muffin on offer. I'm sure it's not exactly health food, but it's not covered in icing or made from butter pastry. So far I've stuck to the baked goods (and they've stuck to me!) but I would like to try some items from the lunch menu, as well. The service here has never been anything less than friendly and helpful. Moreover, during the course of repeated visits I've come to appreciate that the quality of the baked goods is consistent each time. So happy to find this spot on Dauphin Island!!

Loved this place! It was cozy and clean! Great selection of pastries. I'd skip the bacon wrapped bread, but that's just me. House blend of coffee was good. Would go back!

This is more of a question than a review. I am asking the older reviewers (I am 54) if anyone remembers the pie from the Dauphin Island Club. My memory goes back to the early 70's. All I remember about the pie is that it was unique and fantastic...does anyone have any recollections / recipes /etc. for it?

I would give this place 10 stars if I could. We have been coming here for years , and it parallels to no other bakery I've ever been to. The breakfast casseroles are *stellar*, and the the rest of Mary's baked goods are also incredible (I recommend the pigs in a blanket and the bran muffins - if you like decadent cinnamon rolls go for those too). Finally, be sure to visit on Sunday to try the crabmeat omelet. It is by far the most delicious I've ever tasted. Everything at the Lighthouse Bakery is made from scratch. Get there early so you don't miss out on the best options - these goodies go fast!!

Excellent food, excellent customer service and just an all around excellent option to be found on Dauphin Island! Their cinnamon roll with pecans was simply delicious. They have a variety of different things to eat and sometimes, depending on what day it is, they have daily specials. Definitely not to be missed while on the island.

This is breakfast nirvana. Be it sweet or savory, you can find it here. And the staff is simply amazing. Artisans and very courteous. The menu changes up so if you go in with getting something particular in mind you might be disappointed. But the variety is part of the charm of this place. This is hands down the best breakfast on Dauphin Island. Some douche nozzle said he wished they served hotdogs and gave them a pretty poor review. For him, he can eat at the Ship and Shore across the street..........

Delicious pastries, excellent staff, good menu of coffee drinks and sandwiches! We will plan to come back for the breakfast on Sunday or lunch to get a sandwich!

This is a great place on Dauphin Island. we went on a Sunday morning and had a cinnamon roll with pecans, a delicious breakfast casserole and a crab meat omelette (omlettes are only available on Sundays). The cinnamon roll was decadent and loaded with sugared pecans. It was huge too, the man who worked there said we'd be nibbling on it til lunch. Nope ate it all real quick. The breakfast casserole was the best part of my morning there. They were about a size of a hamburger bun and were stuffed with eggs, cheese, veggies and various meats. So good! The crabmeat omelette was ok, I really dont like crab meat too much but my bf (who loves the stuff) said it was good but just a weird taste. In hindsight I wish we would of gone for the sausage omelette because they looked amazing. When we went on a Sunday morning the line was out the door but we got served pretty quickly and had a great time eating out on the porch.

We decided to give this a second try... No thanks... Cinnamon roll had a nice flavor but had a distinctly day old texture to it... sandwich was pretty good but sparse on the filling and again overpriced for what you got.. ( bad week , different cook?? we just are not impressed at all) We expected it to be better than it actually was... crabmeat omelette did not have much crabmeat and the sausage omelette did not have much sausage..... we were not impressed....

We love this bakery. Come on Sunday for Crab Omelets! Great pastries.

We are from Los Angeles and (this part I'm not totally proud of) but a bit snobby about food when we travel. When you live in LA, it's hard to find food that impresses you... anyway, this bakery is great. We went twice, Sunday morning was crowded but worth the wait. Homemade omelettes on Sundays only (crab and shrimp), various kinds of cinnamon rolls, homemade danish's, bacon bread, and chocolate chip cookies are what we tried. Came here again on a Friday just before closing and they had a rush five minutes before closing time. Come give it a try, the people are nice and you will try something tasty.

This place is extremely good. The pastries are delicious. I was in the area for work so used this place to hang out. Good food and atmosphere. Free wi-fi. From what I gather people come from far away just to eat here. People were lined up on the porch Sunday morning waiting for the place to open.

Great for the whole family. had danishes, cake, pigs n' blankets and sausage and biscuits. OUr group of 6 tore through everything, and we made a second stop on our drive back. it can get really packed, and they are not all that quick at the counter.

We loved this little place and went there 3 times in the two days we were there. The croissants were excellent, far better than most you get. The cinnamon buns were also great. Not sure what happened to the person below ( we were there at almost the same time) but they asked if we wanted them warmed and did so for us. The lunch sandwiches were also excellent with good fillings and excellent shop made bread, all very fresh. I would go here 365 days in a row before I would go to Subway! All in all a great little shop, very friendly and helpful staff. I cannot recommend it too much.

Love their potato salad and hoagies. The omelettes are very good. I wish they served them every morning! I would stay away from the cinnamon rolls. They seemed a bit too dry and flavorless to me. The oatmeal cookies are the best regular thing to get from the bakery. The biggest downside is the lack of options/variety on their menu. I want to see some soups/salads and hamburgers/hotdogs!

We went on a Sunday and it was crowded. The baked goods were tasty. The coffee was weak but they do have expresso style coffee and you might have a better experience with that. We ordered some crab omelets. They were good but we probably waited 25-30 minutes for them. If you aren't in a rush, then give the omelets a try, they are pretty good. If you don't have the patience, and some folks didn't, then just stick with the baked goods. The folks working there are very friendly and I enjoyed talking to them. When you go there, take your time and enjoy the experience.

The Lighthouse Bakery is a godsend to Dauphin Island. Not only are all the goodies (pecan sticky rolls, cream cheese danishes, and piggy doodles, to name a few) baked fresh every morning, but you can order cakes and pies to take home, as well. I used The Lighthouse Bakery for my wedding in 2006 and after eating them at the wedding, my friends order their own cakes when they come to visit. I had a tri-level of a death by chocolate mousse, a vanilla bean cheesecake, and the owners signature espresso cognac cake. The only complaints I have ever heard are from the people who don't make it before closing (WRF -2pm weekends 4pm) or try to go by on Monday or Tuesday (closed).

Went late in the day, around 2pm, and the case was nearly empty. Bought a Key lime pie. The texture was a bit soupy and it was overly tangy--even for a key lime. Whipped cream was nice though. Crust didn't hold up and broke with every slice.

What a good surprise to find a full-service bakery on Dauphin Island! I came here to the Sea Labwith my son's school group of high school seniors and was of course a major hero when I showed back up with a sack of tatsy baked goods. Everything we tried from flaky pastries to rich cookies to oooey-gooey cinamon rolls was excellent. My treat was a really nice cappucino. I was hurting for some good coffee by this point in our trip, and theirs hit the spot. They also helped me out getting a little bit of work done with some free wifi.
